Deka L Dye

Deka L hot water dyes are specially formulated for use on all cellulose fibers, such as cotton, linen, and viscose, and also work well on silk. While they may dye certain nylons and synthetic blends, the resulting colours will be softer and less vibrant. Please note that Deka L dyes do not work on polyester or other synthetic threads commonly used in garment construction.

Each 10g sachet is convenient for dyeing 125g to 250g of fabric, depending on the desired intensity of the colour. For optimal results, it’s important to maintain the dye bath at the highest temperature the fabric can tolerate. Achieving a deep, jet black shade requires a consistent temperature of at least 90°C and extended dyeing time.

These versatile dyes are ideal for general fabric dyeing, as well as techniques like shibori tie-dyeing and batik. When using the batik method, a higher concentration of dye at a lower temperature is recommended to prevent the wax resist from melting.

Once dyed, fabrics are machine washable at temperatures up to 30°C. To further enhance colour fastness, Deka L Fixative can be used.
