The end of 25 years of easy trading with Europe for Sinotex.
Brexit has had a significant impact. The Sinotex business model was based on the premise that with efficient European parcels services it made more sense to drop-ship from a central European warehouse, direct to the customer, rather than have stock in each country to serve the local market.
Sadly, this is no longer the case.
Imports from Europe now need Customs clearance and our European partners have had to increase their minimum orders and shipping charges to cover the cost of additional paperwork and preparation of Customs entries that are required for deliveries to the UK. These factors mean that direct shipment is no longer practical.
As you can imagine, recent months have seen much soul searching on the best way forward. The challenge is how to process supplies from our European partners. Plus, my retirement date was quite some years ago, so is it time to call it a day and accept the inevitable? I’m not sure that I’m quite ready for full retirement yet and I’d certainly miss our many wonderful customers, especially those of you who have ordered from Sinotex since those early and heady days of the 1990’s, so I hope the changes outlined below will enable Sinotex to continue to meet your requirements in future.
We will keep a selection of basic scarves, fabrics and Quickcolour dyes available for prompt, ex stock, delivery from Reigate.
The full range of IDEEN, Witte Engel, Dupont and Pebeo-Artys products will be available for special order, but these orders will be handled on an individual basis and there may be delays while we group customer orders to make a minimum shipment.
Unfortunately, we will no longer be able to combine orders from the above with stock items to make a single carriage paid order.
The web shop at www.sinotexuk.com has closed, but there will be separate online forms on the site for you to order either stock or non-stock items and, of course, you can always contact us by phone or email to discuss your requirements. This is still being implemented, but do contact us by email at info@sinotex.co.uk , in the meantime, or call us on +44 (0)1737 245450 if you need product information or have any questions
